National Trust Ickworth – Biomass Boiler Project

Place:

National Trust Ickworth

Type:

Commercial

Year:

2016

Status:

Built

Scope of service: To undertake Architectural services including 3D visualization and to obtain full Planning permission and Listed Building Consent.

Project: Conversion of 1960s garages adjacent to the grade 1 listed Rotunda to house a proposed biomass boiler to serve the Rotunda.

Key design considerations: Careful detailing of the façade and chimneys was required drawing inspiration from the Ickworth estate including dental course corbelled brickwork found on the stable block and general fenestration of the Rotunda.
Double doors to the façade facilitate general operation of the biomass boiler but also allow to draw visitors into the attraction and therefore improving the visitor experience being one of the key aims of the client.
