When we were invited to attend this property and asked to provide a third bedroom and a family roof, we knew immediately that quite a significant redesign was necessary since the chalet style property doesn’t lend itself to the provision of additional upper floor space without the addition of a flat roof rear dormer which, we acknowledge is not to all tastes!
The client clearly had an eye for design and wanted the ‘wow’ factor, this was music to our ears!!
We came up with a modern twist on the tradition rear facing dormer design which allowed us to play propose a dynamic form with the use of quality materials namely zinc. A series of basic 3d views were created both internally and externally to articulate the design of which the client fell in love with.
A 9m long pre-cambered steel beam was deployed to provide a very dramatic and beautiful kitchen space and family room complimented with the use of Crittall style external fenestration, parquet flooring and a kitchen to drool over.
