Domestic Extension & Refurbishment – Bear House, Colchester

A beautiful and substantial Grade 2 Listed dwelling in the heart of Nayland. The homeowner wanted to extend their property in a sympathetic manner.

The principles adopted were sustainable, modern and reversible in order not to harm the historic nature of the building.

The design we settled on, used high quality structural glazing with an architectural reference to the original timber frame but executed in a modern way. The design is at conceptual stage but is specifically designed to have a minimal physical connection to the historic fabric and hence be reversible.
