The Home Farm at the Wimpole Estate, owned and managed by the National Trust, was in need of a complete overhaul as the original café was not fit for purpose. The café businesses for the Trust are commercially extremely important, and therefore, it was critical the project was executed expediently and to a high level.
We carried out the following services:
- Lead Designer, including coordination of the design team.
- Building Inspection for defect analysis.
- Submission of Statutory Consents and obtaining approval of Listed Building Consent and Planning Approval.
- Principal Designer role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Preparation of Building Regulation drawings and obtaining approval from the Local Authority Building Control.
- Preparation of the technical design, including production of construction drawings.
- Production of a full Specification of Works using the NBS software and the CAWS classification system.
- Invitation to Tender, Tender action, and Tender Analysis with recommendations for the award of contract.
- Contract Administration administering the industry-standard Intermediate Contract from the JCT suite of building contracts.

- Computation of the final account.
- Issuing of the Final Certificate and making good defects certificate following the 12-month Rectification period.
- Weekly site visits during the contract period and reporting back to the client.
The project has been a success story due to the efforts and engagement of the client team throughout the project, the contractor, Carters (Cambridge), and us working in a collaborative approach.
